What’s happening?
Construction works for the BusConnects Liffey Valley to City Centre Scheme commenced in May 2026 at Liffey Valley, along Fonthill Road and Bothar an Life.
Since then, works have also been ongoing in Ballyfermot and have commenced in the City Centre along James’s Street, Dublin 8.
We are now progressing works to Coldcut Road between Neilstown Road and Clover Hill Road to include the M50 Overbridge. To facilitate these works and to provide a safe working space, it will be necessary to establish a works area and associated traffic management measures. Works will initially start on the outbound side between Neilstown Road and the M50 Overbridge.
When will works begin?
Works are expected to begin early October 2026 and to continue until March 2027, subject to change. The works will be delivered on a phased basis, as shown in the image above. The map above outlines the works area and identifies the six construction phases (Phases 1-6) which will be carried out sequentially. The timing and duration of each phase may vary as construction progresses.
How will access be maintained?
Access to homes and businesses will be maintained throughout the duration of the works. Where temporary changes to access is required, residents and businesses will be notified in advance.
Hours of operation
Working hours will be between 07:00am and 23:00pm, Monday to Friday, and 08:00am to 16:30pm on Saturdays. Some activities may need to take place outside of these ours.
The project team will continue to update the public on ongoing works in the area as the project progresses, and notify residents and businesses in advance of any night-time works taking place.
Temporary Traffic Management Measures
Traffic management measures will be implemented to support the safe and efficient delivery of the works. These will be introduced in phases and carefully planned to protect road users, pedestrians, and site personnel, while minimising disruption to traffic as much as possible.
Please see examples of measures listed below:
- Temporary traffic management will be in place on Coldcut Road throughout the duration of the works.
- Works will be carried out in phases, with footpaths and cycle lanes temporarily closed in short sections on one side of the road at a time to minimise disruption and maintain safe access.
- The footpath on the outbound side of Coldcut Road will be temporarily suspended for periods during the works. Vehicular access to the Dublin City Services Sports & Social Club will be maintained at all times.
- Pedestrian routes may change and will be clearly signposted. Please follow all directional signage and use the designated crossing points to ensure your safety.
- Some of the existing bus stops may require temporary suspension. Bus stop 2674 on the outbound side of Coldcut Road and bus stop 2685 on the inbound side may be temporarily suspended for periods during the works, with users diverted to the nearest existing stops.
- Temporary road markings and signage will be in place. Please take extra care and follow all temporary traffic management measures.
- To facilitate the safe delivery of the works, the roadway and adjacent footpaths within the work zone must be kept clear and free from parked vehicles at all times.
- Temporary traffic light switch-offs and Stop/Go systems will be utilised as required.
