Background

At the NTA, we believe infrastructure should do more than connect places — it should strengthen communities too. Through the BusConnects Liffey Valley to City Centre Core Bus Corridor Scheme, we are committed to creating lasting, positive benefits for the communities we work alongside, including safer streets, better public spaces. and improved options for walking, cycling and public transport.

Our focus is not only on delivering a better-connected, more sustainable city, but also on enhancing accessibility, supporting local businesses and jobs, and making everyday journeys safer and easier for everyone. We want our presence to leave a positive legacy — from supporting local initiatives to improving the communities we operate in.

We know that strong communities are at the heart of successful projects. That’s why we work in partnership with local people and organisations to build trust, understand what matters most, and deliver initiatives that respond to real local needs.

BusConnects: Your City, Better Connected

School Education Programme

As part of the BusConnects Liffey Valley to City Centre Core Bus Corridor Scheme, we are proud to deliver our School Education Programme — connecting local students to the future of how people will travel, live, and move through their communities.

Working with St Gabriel’s, St Raphael’s, and Inchicore National School, the programme explored how BusConnects will create a more reliable, sustainable, and better-connected city, while also supporting safer streets, greener travel choices, and more accessible neighbourhoods. Students were encouraged to think creatively about sustainable travel and their own communities.

This programme strives to create a lasting legacy — building awareness of this vital transport scheme, championing its benefits, and igniting an interest in sustainability. It empowers young people to shape Dublin’s future, with artwork that tells the story of their green journeys and their vision for a safer, more connected city.
