What’s happening?
Construction works for the BusConnects Liffey Valley to City Centre Core Bus Corridor Scheme commenced in May 2026 at Liffey Valley Shopping Centre and will continue along Fonthill Road and Bóthar an Life until the end of Q4 2026.
The next section of works is expected to commence in late August 2026 along James Street, between Bow Lane West and Crane Street. This section of works will be carried out in five phases. Works in this area will include an upgraded road layout, improvements to bus lanes, new bus stops, upgraded public lighting, new pedestrian crossings, improvements to existing road facilities, and the provision of dedicated cycle lanes. To facilitate these works safely, temporary traffic management will be in place throughout the works. Temporary lane closures will be implemented to provide a safe working area, and traffic islands will be temporarily altered, with road markings realigned to suit the temporary traffic management arrangement.
When will works begin?
Works are expected to begin in late August and to continue until the middle of December, subject to change. Figure 1 outlines the works area and identifies the different construction phases (Phases 1–5) which will be carried out in five sequential phases. The timing and duration of each phase may vary as construction progresses.
Works will include removing the existing traffic island before temporarily narrowing the carriageway to create a safe working area. These works will facilitate road widening, the installation of new cycle and bus lanes, new bus stops, upgraded public lighting, new pedestrian crossings, and enhancements to existing facilities.
Works are due to begin in mid-June 2026 and are expected to continue until the end of Q4 2026.
