We are pleased to announce the rollout of the BusConnects STEM Schools’ Education Programme, which began in April with visits to St Gabriel’s and St Raphael’s Primary Schools. Both schools are located in the Ballyfermot area, a key part of the Liffey Valley to City Centre Scheme.
The BusConnects STEM Schools’ Education Programme is an initiative by the National Transport Authority (NTA) that connects schools along BusConnects corridors with the vision of sustainable transport. By engaging young people and strengthening connections within local communities, the programme aims to build awareness of greener travel for the future while also helping students to explore and better understand the range of careers available within STEM fields.
The sessions included a short presentation introducing the BusConnects vision, along with discussions on topics such as planning journeys, the benefits of public transport, and how small travel choices can make a positive impact.
The BusConnects STEM Schools’ Education Programme reflects a long-term commitment to supporting young people while promoting sustainable thinking and meaningful community engagement.
Following the presentation, students were invited to design their own sustainable journey to school. Their creativity did not disappoint! Take a look at a selection of their designs below.
